The 94th GAMM annual meeting took place from March 18th to 22nd, 2024 at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. As usual, our group was given the opportunity to be involved in various activities and events as part of the conference. Throughout the week, we as the GAMM Juniors organized the following events:
The first event was the Pre-GAMM, which started already in the week before the conference with a scientific on-boarding. Six talks prepared the participants for the plenary lectures at the conference. On-site, the event continued with an introduction on “How to conference”, addressing especially young researchers, which participated for the first time in a big conference.
The YAMM Lunch took place on Wednesday and was a great opportunity for young researchers to get in touch with well-known experts in their field and discuss both research and private matters. For both events, about 25 participants could join. Our poster session was held in the coffee breaks on Tuesday and Wednesday, which was a great opportunity to discuss our research and form new connections.
On Thursday, the traditional mutual GAMM Juniors dinner took place at Wirtshaus Magdeburg, where we were joined by our Alumnae and Alumni. Finally, on Friday morning, we had a short exchange with GAMM’s members of the executive board. Our speaker team attended the board meetings and was able to establish some changes. For example, self-initiative applications of new GAMM Juniors are now possible. Furthermore, the newly nominated Juniors were introduced during the general assembly.
We would like to thank all experts and plenary speakers participating in our events and everyone who was involved in the organization. This years meeting was once again a great opportunity to gain visibility for our group and our projects. We are very much looking forward to the next annual meeting 2025 in Poznan, Poland.
