Maximilian Brodbeck

Maximilian Brodbeck studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, where he received his M.Sc. degree in 2021 with a thesis on phase-field methods in damage mechanics. In the same year, he began his Ph.D. at the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Dynamics in Aerospace Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tim Ricken.

His research interests include adaptive Galerkin-type and Least-Squares finite element methods for structural mechanics as well as coupled problems. Beyond their numerical analysis, he focuses on efficient implementation and practical applicability in the engineering contexts. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the Best Poster Award at the Chemnitz Finite Element Symposium 2024 and the Best Presentation Award at both the FEniCS Conference and the Forschungskolloquium Baustatik – Baupraxis in 2025.
