Dr.-Ing. Isabelle Noll is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Engineering Mathematics, University of Duisburg-Essen. She studied Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund University, where she graduated with her Master of Science in 2017, including a study abroad at Montana State University, Bozeman, USA.
She subsequently pursued her doctoral studies at TU Dortmund University under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Menzel and successfully defended her dissertation in February 2024, entitled “Thermomechanical modelling and simulation of laser powder bed fusion processes”. During her doctoral research, she focused on phase transformation algorithms for the modeling of laser powder bed fusion processes and developed a multilevel framework for the effective prediction of residual stresses and distortion. In 2025, she spent two months as a visiting researcher in the Mechanics of Materials Group, Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands, under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Joris Remmers.
In June 2026, she joined the Institute of Engineering Mathematics at the UDE, working in Prof. Matti Schneider’s group. There she focuses on fast methods in computational micromechanics with an eye towards process-property relationships.
