Summer School 2025

The Summer Schools organised by the GAMM Juniors (SAMM) have become an institution, bringing together young researchers from Mathematics and Mechanics. SAMM 2025 took place at TU Dresden as a deep dive into the topic of Model Order Reduction (MOR).

Four experts on MOR covered a wide range from mathematical foundations to application in science and engineering:

  • TT-Prof Benjamin Unger (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology):
Interpolatory model reduction for dynamical systems
  • Prof Peter Benner (Max-Planck-Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, Magdeburg):
Non-intrusive Model Order Reduction and Machine Learning
  • Dr Paolo Tiso (ETH Zürich):
    Reduction of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems
  • Dr Margarita Chasapi (RWTH Aachen):
Reduced Basis Methods in Computational Mechanics

Introductory lectures were complemented by hands-on sessions, allowing participants to put their newly acquired knowledge and skills to the test.

In addition to the scientific program, participants had the opportunity to explore the city of Dresden and its surroundings, the latter on a hike through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

Thanks to all speakers and participants for an insightful and exiting week!SAMM 2025 was organised by the (former) GAMM Juniors Katharina Klioba, Richard Schussnig, Martha Kalina, Kai Partmann, Jonas Heinzmann, Georgia Kikis and Dominik Klein.
