Carina Witt studied Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund University, where she received her M.Sc. degree in 2019. In her master thesis she worked on an Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) framework for gradient elasticity problems. After graduation, she continued her research as a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Menzel at the Institute of Mechanics at TU Dortmund University.
Her research is focused on generalised continua in combination with anisotropic material behaviour. In particular, she works on
- fibre-reinforced composites with fibres that possess a bending stiffness,
- flexoelectricity-induced bone remodelling processes including chemo-electro-mechanical coupling.
