In 2014, I graduated at the University of Stuttgart in the field of civil engineering. In my master thesis, I did investigations on isogeometric contact analyses for thin-walled structures at the Institute for Structural Mechanics led by Prof. Manfred Bischoff. After I finished my studies, I started my PhD at the same institute within the DFG Collaborative Research Center “Biological Design and Integrative Structures”, which essentially deals with biomimetics in architecture. At our institute we interpreted especially the topic of plant movements in a more abstract way and I am currently working on a method based on a variational formulation that allows for the design of motions for adaptive structures meeting certain requirements.
