Benjamin Unger studied Mathematics at the Karlsruhe Institut of Technology and at the Virginia Polytechnic and State University (Virginia Tech). He received a master’s degree in mathematics from Virginia Tech in 2013. After internships at Allianz Deutschland AG and Robert Bosch GmbH, he started his doctoral studies at TU Berlin under the supervision of Prof. Volker Mehrmann.
In his research, Benjamin is concerned with delay differential-algebraic equations (DDAEs) and model order reduction. His main interest in DDAEs is to understand under what conditions a DDAE possess a unique solution. On the other hand, he investigates methods to approximate transport-dominated phenomena, for instance by approximating the differential equation with an delay equation.
