Merten Stender earned his M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2016 from Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) where he focused on numerical methods and dynamics of structures. Merten wrote his master thesis in collaboration with the Vibration University Technology Center at Imperial College London. During his bachelor and master degree, he was sponsored by the German Foundation of Business (Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft sdw).
From 2016 to 2020 Merten pursued his PhD with Prof. Norbert Hoffmann at the Dynamics Group at TUHH. His research topic is “Data-Driven Techniques for the Nonlinear Dynamics of Mechanical Structures”, which touches on Machine Learning and the development of digital twins.
